Protecting your files or folders is important if your computer is used by others. There are lot more ways to protect your files/folders with a password but most of them requires installation of software. I am going to show you a simple and easy way to Lock Folder Using CMD.
STEP 1: Copy the following code to Notepad.
cls
@ECHO OFF
title Folder Private
if EXIST “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}” goto UNLOCK
if NOT EXIST Private goto MDLOCKER
:CONFIRM
echo Are you sure you want to lock the folder(Y/N)
set/p “cho=>”
if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
if %cho%==y goto LOCK
if %cho%==n goto END
if %cho%==N goto END
echo Invalid choice.
goto CONFIRM
:LOCK
ren Private “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
attrib +h +s “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
echo Folder locked
goto End
:UNLOCK
echo Enter password to unlock folder
set/p “pass=>”
if NOT %pass%== 1234 goto FAIL
attrib -h -s “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
ren “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}” Private
echo Folder Unlocked successfully
goto End
:FAIL
echo Invalid password
goto end
:MDLOCKER
md Private
echo Private created successfully
goto End
:End
STEP 2: In 23rd Line You can see the default password i.e., 1234 , so just change this to the password you want.
STEP 3: Save the file using any name you want with .BAT
STEP 4: Open that save file and enter the password and press Enter
STEP 5: After entering the password , it will create one folder named “Private”. So, copy any file or folders you want to hide and paste/move it to Private folder.
STEP 6: If you want to lock this folder, again open that BAT file. Type Y and then press enter, now your folder is locked or hidden whatever you can
